Wednesday - Showers then Sunny

We woke up to the sound of rain and thunder this morning, which was a surprise because the forecast last night said it would be sunny and 30 degrees.

We got out of bed and went back to the nice Spaniards cafe and had the same breakfast as yesterday.

After breakfast we realised that because of the storm, we weren't going anywhere for awhile. So we went to the supermarket to buy some food for lunch, and then went back to the hotel where we did so more trip research and watched TV.

After lunch the sun came out and we walked down Calle de Alcala a very popular boulevard to Alcala Gate. It replaced the older smaller gate in the 18th century, and was right next to the main entrance to The Buen Retiro Park.
The park belonged to the Spanish Monarchy until the late 19th century then it became a public park. Its pretty big, 350 acres, right in the middle of the city. The park is filled with beautiful sculptures, monuments and lakes.

We spent a couple of hours walking through the perfectly manicured park and then went back to our favorite cafe for some tapas and beers.

Tomorrow we are leaving early on a bus so we wouldn't be able to have our nice cafe breakfast. So after dinner we went to the shop and picked up a baguette some meat and salsa for breakfast then watched some TV before hitting the hay.
