Saturday : fine
We went to the local Lidl store back at the train station, and picked up a few items for breakfast. Kim whipped up a nice omelette and we ate it outside.
After breakfast we walked into the old side of town. The whole walk today was walking through one big outside market There was so many food and drink stalls, the smells were driving us crazy! We were pretty lucky timing our visit here, this festival is fantastic!
The town itself is great to walk around, especially with all the markets. The pretty cobble stoned streets with beautiful looking houses and grand looking churches, palaces and museums. It's a very nice looking city.
We had quite a few stops on our walk today before heading back to the hostel for a late lunch. On the way back we stopped back off at Lidel and pickup an extremely cheap 6 pack beer and a bottle of rose wine. All for €4.50!
We had the bottle of wine over lunch and started on the beers while talking to some other hostel guests. We then headed back into town to walk through all the lit up streets and markets.
It was a great night, so many people enjoying the festival. After some steak sandwiches for dinner, we pulled up and had a seat on the river looking back at the lit up town and finished off the beers. It was after midnight when we decided to call it, and walked back through this really spooky medieval styled market. There were hypnotizing fire twirlers, awesome BBQs and fires, candles lighting up the white canvas stalls, and a band on stage playing trippy medieval music using fiddles single drums and a fox for bagpipes. In Munich there was a similar setup at Christmas markets.
Back at the hostel we got ready for bed and once again we were the last ones to bed. These room mates are great! I wonder if I will ever meet them?
