Kathryn's update
Getting out of San Francisco was interesting, the GPS took us over the Bay bridge, which Lib realised was in the opposite direction as to where we wanted to go. Luckily Lib used her map reading skills to direct us out of the city. Once into the countryside, the views were amazing, we really did not expect California to be so picturesque. Our first stop was Half Moon Bay which was a very small town, we stopped off for some coffee. Next was Santa Cruz, which was also nice, with various pretty flowers. Mum hasn't quite got used to the stop signs yet, she completely ran one in Santa Cruz, but noticed when a man was hyperventilating thinking we were going to crash into him. So we came to screaming halt in the middle of the crossroads. The funny thing was lib was eating popcorn at the time, we turned round and the whole car was covered in popcorn. A funny moment!! We were crying with laughter and fear. When we arrived in Monterey, the hotel reception seemed nice, the hotel rooms not as great as the 5* in San Francisco. We headed out to get our bearings around Monterey, and to a teppanyaki for dinner.
Lib's entry -
We have now moved down to Monterey County and staying at Casa Munras which is nice, not the same as the 5 star Westin St Francis in San Fran but was glad to get out of the city and into the country. We drove down US 1 to get here so the view was amazing. I had a King Sized room to myself and now I'm sharing with my mum (although we have seperate beds). It has such a nice Spanish feel at the hotel and the staff are helpful and friendly. Might get to do some horse riding in the next few days.
Had an absoloute laugh driving down with multiple problems with the sat nav! Not sure I'll come back tanned at all as it's still only about 18 degrees. Need to buy some jeans tomorow I think!
