Slow moving morning but we eventually we made it into the reception area for our free breakfast. The girls were excited as this place had make your own waffles where you pour the batter onto an automatic grill that you flip and it beeps when it's cooked. Yum.
Headed off in average weather, it was overcast and rainy so we went to the local cheap shop to find raincoats and only managed to get 3 plastic ponchos with Canadian flags all over them - not touristy at all. Aside from this the weather was fairly warm and we were all in shorts and singlets.
It was recommended we head up to the meadow in the sky which is a field of flowers on the top of mt Revelstoke. This is one of the only mountains you can drive up. Weather was shocking as we headed up and by the time we reached the top (1/2 hr) we got out of the car and it was freezing! A quick change in the carpark and we boarded the shuttle to the peak and did a bit of a hike around to amazing views if slight snow capped mountains but unfortunately it was too late on the year for the flowers.
Headed down and set off for our next town stopping along the way at a few old cedar forests and a very strange boardwalk walk through something called a skunk cabbage forest - possibly the most uninteresting thing we've seen so far.
We finally arrived in golden to stay at the ramada limited - by this stage it was very cold so reception area was a nice warm welcoming for us.
Went it the closest dinner possible as it was getting late (lost an hour for time difference) where the food was ok. Wade tried some kind of burger which had a meat patty on one side and something called a poutine on the other. This turned out to be a sloppy mix of fries, cheese pieces and gravy. Not a hit. Josie and elz had a cheese burger and me a healthy club sandwich with salad. Isla ate none of her chips again.
Off to bed in our tiny room of 2 double beds and a stretcher for Isla. for some reason Josie couldn't sleep so in an attempt to bore her I put in the most boring history channel I could find to send her to sleep.
