On the home stretch today, only 530kms to go. We stopped off at a lookout just out of Cobar that looked over one of the mines. I got vertigo just looking down into the huge deep hole, it was interesting to see the ute go into the tunnel down the bottom wondering what it is like in an underground mine. A mine tour is definitely on our list when the kid get a bit older.
The kids didn't love being in the car again today so we made sure we had a few stops along the way for them to get out and stretch their legs. Lunch was at West Wyalong and it was cold! Oh how we wish we could just head north again! This was where we said goodbye to Mitch and Kira as they headed to Temora.
We got into camp (home) at about 4. It's funny how your own home can feel so foreign when you have been away from it for a while. James got straight into building a Lego set Grandpa had got for him at Longreach that he had been holding onto ever since and finding all his most loved possessions, his trains. Ed just enjoyed the freedom and space and got right back in to pulling all of his favourite things out of the kitchen cupboards! Now for all the unpacking and washing and washing and washing...
There really is nothing better than that first shower in your own home after a camping adventure!
Now to start planning next years adventure...Cape York!!
