Woke up this morning feeling like a zombie, but it's our last day at Disney and we've decided to make a full day out of it, planning on leaving around 4 or 5 back to Paris. We cancelled the day trip to Reims (champagne country) last night by executive decision...would be far too much to try to fit in on this trip, perhaps if Heather wasn't pregnant and we could both enjoy the champagne...
In the park at 10:30, dropped Heather and MD off at the Rapunzel line while I went to the other side of the park to get in line for a visit with the Disney Princesses later in the day (have to get a reservation time, reservations are gone within 30 minutes of the line opening at 11). 30 minutes in that line, reservation in hand for 2:40pm and I'm back to the Rapunsel line to find that she hasn't shown up yet and the girls haven't moved an inch, yet the crazy lady behind her in line is literally right on top of them...personal bubble much? It's a full 2.5 hours from the time we got in line to the time we see her, but it was an awesome visit for a full 7 or 8 minutes with tons of photos and personal time with MD.
After finishing up with Rapunsel, one of the park employees pulls Heather to the side and says, "I couldn't help but notice that you are pregnant, did you know that there is an express pass for this and a bunch of other attractions for pregnant women? You didn't have to stand in that line." ...no of course not, no one told us anything about that! Been here for 2 full days and not a word about it! Grrrr....lack of communication in this country is our biggest pet peeve. So over to the City Hall to get the pregnant woman fast pass...
Off to see Mickey Mouse again...we no longer have to wait in line for him. It's actually quite ridiculous, we literally walked straight up, went in a private side door, and saw Mickey within 3 minutes (unlike the 45 minute wait the first time we came to see him). For whatever reason, Maclaren is scared of Mickey and doesn't want to take any pictures with him again today...at least we didn't have to wait in line to get bad photos!
Back to "Its a Small World", this really is Heather's favorite ride. But the park is stuffed with people today so all the rides have long queues. So we opt to go over to Walt Disney Studios and see the Cinemagique show while MD takes a nap. This show is a movie history from black and white soundless shows all the way to today's blockbusters. There are a few special effects thrown in, like the sprinklers coming on over the audience during a rain scene and small explosions on the stage during a gun scene. Heather is bored and almost falls asleep, I'd have liked there to be some more effects. Next we try for the Disney Junior Live show where MD meets Sofia the First and Jake the Pirate, but we quickly realize the show is in French...not going to work...so we duck out early to grab an ice cream and go play in the "Toy Story Playland".
Some more rerides like the train and boats, a visit to the dragon, and a talk with a park employee and we decide that taking a later train (after 8pm) is a better idea than our original plan for 4-5pm as the employee advises us that that is the busiest time and the trains will be packed from 4-7pm.
So we spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying Disneyland.
If we have learned anything in this country, it's that you must always ask multiple people for directions to confirm that you've received the right information...many multiple times on this trip people have told us to go right when it should have been left. Or go that way, when its the exact opposite way. Almost as if they are telling us the exact wrong information on purpose. And the cops are the only people that can be trusted to give you correct and accurate directions the first time. Departing on the train is no different, 3rd person we talk to is a cop and we finally get the right info for getting on the train to Paris.
On the train from Chessy to Paris at 10pm with a group of 4 seats to ourselves...we aren't moving for anyone! Arrived in Paris at 11, walked up 3 levels of subway to find ourselves in the middle of a huge street festival. Luckily we bumped into a friendly group of kids from Ireland who helped us find a taxi driver; who didn't think all our stuff would fit in his car. I convinced him otherwise, shoved it all in, and he drove like a race car driver to get us to the the hotel by 11:20 and for only 11E despite tonight being a massive street festival to celebrate the first day of summer. Checked in, showers, and everyone is crashed out. We are beat from Disney, will definitly sleep-in in the morning and then probably out to the antique market or Sacre Coure.
