Holy cow! Yesterday was a long day! We wanted to get up early and utilize the "extra magic hours pass" but that didn't happen...we were lucky to get up and out the door by 10.
Breakfast at the hotel is terrible, but what can you expect from a place that is serving about 2000 people in a 4 hour period? I really thought we were going to be back on our game once we got to Disney....ohhhhhh how I underestimated how much life Disney drains out of you in 1 day...I scheduled our breakfasts for 7am thinking we could be at the gates by 8am and beat all the crowds. The breakfast consists of powdered eggs, terrible little sausages, terrible thin bacon, a bunch of breads, rolls, and croissants with jams and honey, cereal and milk, and a couple juice selections along with coffee. It suffices to fill us up, but the secret to saving money is making lunch at the breakfast buffet. There is also a selection of cold meats and cheeses; so a couple of croissants with some mustard, deli meat, and cheese; wrapped in a napkin, along with some jams and other things makes for a great mid day snack in the park.
It's noticeably busier today than it was yesterday. We're going to try to see Rapunsel this morning, but by the time we get to her signing location, the line is a 3 hour wait...not going to happen today! But we did arrive in time to see the Spring Promenade Parade in front of Cinderella's Castle, then it's off to Phantom Manor which was far too scary to take Maclaren on and quite frankly, not worth all the hype it gets. A quick spin around Boot Hill which is really just an extension of the Phantom Manor theme and then up to the Frontierland Depot Train Station to catch the train around the park. Along the way though, we ran into Pluto, Smead (Captain Hook's helper), and Gideon (the cat from Pinocchio). Maclaren was really excited to see Pluto (she calls him Cluto), but even more excited to see Smead and kept asking him where Captain Hook was. :(
The train is terrible, it's a really short ride between stations and you don't see anything between stations, then you spend 10 minutes parked at the station to let people on and off. Not worth the time, so we got off at the Main Street Station and walked over to Walt Disney Studios.
Unfortunately MD passed out while Heather and I watched the Animagique show and there was nothing we could do to wake her up, she was exhausted and dead to the world...she would have loved the show with live Disney characters like Donald, Mickey, Balou (bear from The Jungle Book), and others. Sorry no photos during live shows. Around the park to find that most things are already done for the day since this park closes at 6pm, but we did get a fun picture of Heather "dancing in the rain".
Hurry, there is still one more show we can make, "Stitch Live!". MD is awake now and she loves Stitch and Lilo. The show has a live human assistant to Stitch who interacts with the crowd, while Stitch is up on the screen talking to the audience. At first I think it's just a well choreographed video with a live person filling in the gaps, but as the show goes on I realize that there is another person doing the voice of Stitch (through synthesizer). As Stitch is calling on children in the crowd and asking them their names and where they are from I start thinking in the back of my head...oh don't call on me. But sure enough, as he works his way around the room he calls on Heather, "the pretty woman in the front row with 4 ears".
"Heather, you're pretty, will you be my girlfriend?"
"No sorry Stitch, I have a husband."
"Oh. Heather's husband, please stand up."
I stand.
"What is your name"
"Jarrod"
"Jarrod, I will have a contest with you for Heather's hand, ok? The best man wins"
"OK Stitch"
"Jarrod, can you do this: ahwally ahgolly ahwally ahgolly ahwally ahgolly!!!" (while flapping your arms like a bird)
"Sure Stitch." So they got my best 'ahwally ahgolly ahwally ahgolly ahwally ahgolly' while flapping my arms like a bird. (in front of a crowd of 75)
"Pretty good Jarrod. I bet you can't do this: 'ahwook wook ahwook wook ahwook wook' (while bobbing your head back and forth like an ostrich and twisting your hips like a hula hoop)
"OK Stitch" So they got my best version of that.
"Jarrod, that's pretty good, but I bet you can't do this! ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!" (he grows 2 more arms)
"ARGGGGGHHHH! But I can't grow any more arms, I think you got me Stitch."
"I win! Heather you're my girlfriend now, you're so pretty!"
It was a lot of fun and Maclaren was laughing and smiling the whole time, which was priceless.
Back to the Disneyland Park in time for the 5:30 main parade, where we snagged perfect seats on the street curb. The parade was a fantastic production with huge, intricate, awesome floats, tons of characters, tons of dancers, lots of surprises, and tons of fun for everyone: absolutely the best thing in the park in 3 days.
Dinner time, nothing is open besides 2 pizza places (we are pizza'd out), and the expensive seafood restaurant at Pirates of the Caribbean is all booked up, so we end up at Au Chalet de la Marionette which is on the cheaper side of the food pricing and actually has a pretty good tasting 1/2 chicken and hamburger.
After dinner Heather is able to sneak onto the Mad Hatter's Tea Cups by using MD as a screen for her belly, they wouldn't let her on last night because she is pregnant. Technically she isn't allowed to ride very many of the rides but they don't pay attention. Back to "It's a Small World", this is Heather's favorite ride and it never has a line because it has such high capacity. Then down to Buzz Lightyear's Laser Blast, which is my favorite ride. I'm able to double my score from last night, but at least 1/3 of the targets don't work which is what is keeping me from achieving the highest ranking. We hit a couple more rides that we didn't get to yesterday (Casey Jr's Train, Le Pays des Contes de Fees, and Les Mysteres du Nautilus). Back to the hotel by 11pm, we're too tired to stay for the Dream Show again.
