Aloha! What a place. I love Hawaii my first thought were I've arrived in Paradise my thoughts now are how do I move here? Such a difference form the hell Of LAX no horrible questions at customs just a smile and a welcome. The hostel was really nice, two blocks from the beach, clean and friendly and welcoming. I headed straight down to Lu Lu's surf bar for happy hour with some people from my hostel and met some locals who were very friendly one who runs the surf school out of the hostel. I was in luck he was heading to the North Shore the next day and offered to give me a lift and go out surfing with me. Of course I jumped at the chance of my own personal surf buddy. I woke up feeling brighter than I had since I left and ran down to the bar to get my 'pre surf breakfast' at the unsociable hour of 7.30am. We left soon after and drove up the coast line. As soon as you get out of Honolulu how it changes, beautiful!! We got to Waimea bay and I stepped foot in the Pacific, I think for the first time. For those in the surfing know you will know this spot, for those of you who aren't its world famous. It's the place they use in all the films, Point Break when Patrick Swaz rushes off into the sea never to be seen again, that's the one. Of course the waves weren't quite that big but I've still done it!! woow!!!! We also went to turtle bay and yes they had turtles there. The next day I did Diamond Head of course not realising it was going to be a hike around a crater and up the side of a mountain. Trying to negotiate it in flip flops and my beach back was a little difficult now that I look back on it. Then I went surfing again and nearly took out a Japanese tourist who of course was taking my picture as I was flying towards her screaming get out of the way. The surf school let me borrow a board and go out with them, then we all get half price drinks and food in the bar afterwards. I really did land on my feet with that one. I found out afterwards that the surf instructor who had become my buddy was the person who looked after Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore when they were in town. Shame they weren't. Honestly!! Hawaii is truly lovely I was very sad to leave. I would like to write more but unfortunately there is someone waiting for the internet yet again. I'm also still trying to download my pics and my Guitar is still out of tune.
