So I get to the Hostel and in my room are a Swedish girl with blonde hair, plaits and a frumpy dress and a French girl wearing a berry. Hmmm. Something's spooky about this. I feel left out so a make a mental note that as soon as I go out I will look for a pair of union jack shorts and some brits abroad sun block. LA is colder than I expected and the hostel is really nice. There is even a TV waw, (it's been a while) so I immediately set off to explore the nice neighbourhood of Melrose which is rather nice I have to say, don't know what I'm doing there. Then I head for the bright lights of Hollywood. Of course I booked one of those really tacky tours of the stars homes, it had to be done. I'm only in town for a short time. The first night there was a trip from the hostel to a bar on Sunset Strip which apparently was used for filming desperate housewives. Everywhere in LA was used for filming something. Can't remember what it was called but it was like some sort of Cowboy theme pub with a big bull in the middle of it that you of course could win a prize for staying on the longest. I fell off within 2 minutes. Oh well. The Scottish lads from my hostel did a lot better. They are harder up north! They then came back and had bought a 5 litre tube of beer for everyone on the table! Feeling slightly sick from the bucking bull maybe drinking beer out of a tap was not the best of ideas. But I was here to have fun!! A group of now 15 of us then went on to another bar called 7 and I was very excited to see Keanu Reeves and Kevin Bacon at the bar. I really was in LA!!! Of course I didn't partake in the running up to them and telling them 'I loved them in the movies' I was far too cool for that. Wasn't I? Still out to party we went on to the Viper room. It was a lot smaller than I had imagined and darker. I was still impressed though and luckily we had no casualties on the pavement outside. We all made it back to the party room at the hostel in one piece. Phew. The next day I went on my tour of the stars homes…. The woman running the trip took a liking to me and had me sit in the front seat as the co-pilot. She fondly referred to me as English. we visited everyone's homes from the Beckhams to little Baw Waw ( me neither) riding around the Hollywood hills in a mini bus with the John Williams box set was surreal enough for any would be tourist, and a must, I loved the cheese. We even saw Colombo cleaning his car!!1 I have all these pictures I've been trying to upload for your viewing pleasure but I don't have a clue which house belongs to which star. Still the memories to cherish.......After the tour I appeared in the background of a movie they were filming that I can't remember the name of, just as well and even I got caught up in the lights camera action of it all outside the Chinese theatre. That night it was all you could drink for $5 at the hostel. I don't remember much after that.
