So the bus to take us to the Grand Canyon still hadn't turned up at 6.45 so we called and it had broken down. We were told that we would have to get a cab to the other side of town to the depot and that every body would wait for us. I wondered if they were actually going to tell us and how all the others waiting for us actually got there on a broken down bus. Hmmm. So we made it just in time and we were off. Tired and hung over I slept most of the way woke up briefly to see the Joshua trees which I really enjoyed. All I can say of the Canyon is its vast, huge, big and quite scary to be standing almost to the edge hung over and tired with no railings. I found myself standing there with a group of Americas staring at this enormous hole in the ground going 'waw'. Spent the day there, had another super size lunch and decided that all the rich food has been making me feel a rather vibrant shade of green. I don't know how anyone can survive the food here and come out the other side alive. When we arrived back I had five hours to wait for my bus so I decided to go and have one last look at a few Casinos near the bus station. As I sat alone in a Casino dinner friendless and restless I started chatting to a nice American guy next to me who was also on his own. I told him all I had won since I arrived was 40 cent and shook his head. Before I knew it I was whisked away to the black jack table and being shown the ropes. Neil my new gambling buddy had done this before. Before I knew it I was doubling down and splitting my hand with the best of them and I had turned my $9 into several hundred in the space of an hour. Me and my new gambling buddy were jumping around maniacs not sure if it was the excitement or the extra oxygen they pump into Casinos to keep you awake and gambling. Anyway I was on top of the world and ran off with my winnings to catch my bus. God the Greyhound bus and station is a breading ground for ex convicts and every kind of bum known to man. The amount of lunatics I had encountered before I got to San Diego was frightening. I even had my hat swiped somewhere along route, I think it was the guy in front of me, the cheeky ******** It is a wonderful picture though, somewhere in the Hood there is a big black guy walking around with a 3 pound 99 hat from peacocks, fantastic!By the way I'm sorry about all the library pictures, you have to add one each time and I can't seem to find a computer in the whole of the US that will allow me to upload the ones on my phone. Also this blog should be dated 26th.
