Hello!
Last day in Japan, depart for Australia this evening.
I was up really very early this morning and I got to experience the jam packed commuter trains which was quite fun! Shinjuku station (the nearest hub to Akebonobashi where I stay) the busiest stations in the world, with millions of people passing through it every day! 3.64 million in fact in 2007, a day! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinjuku_Station
I have learnt a few more things about Japan and Tokyo and as they have amused me, maybe they will you!
- Japanse peolpe sleep everywhere and anywhere! Trains, coffee shops, standing up, game arcades! It`s funny and widely accepted. No one will steal your stuff and no one will usher you away.
- Love hotels. Now this is where Japanses couples meet for some private time. They work so much they often do not have time to go back home after a days work, so they meet in love hotels. Haha!
- Heated toilet seats is the business!!! I am not so sure of all the functions that come along with it though. Lots of buttons and some quite disturbing! See this for an example of what they look like:

- Smoking is allowed indoors, but not on the street (!).
- THere are no bins anywhere, yet so clean!
- Everything talks at you. The shops, the metro station, the cash point, everything.
- They use bird noises to assist blind people in the metro stations. I have worked out the cookoo noise means train approaching. I am not sure of the rest. :)
- The trains really always are on time!!
I have found Tokyo interesting, fun and absolutely exhausting! There are always peolpe around everywhere and as everything is in Japanese everything is a bit of a challenge. The noises, the smells, the people - it all adds up to quite an experience that leaves you very tired!
So onwards it is. I leave Japan slightly confused but happy to have been part of the crazy place that is Tokyo. :)
Over and out.

Mamma Hej gumman!
