Well, Tampa started out the morning with a bang. She and I were in the tent and all was fine. I connected her leash to let her out to do her morning business then she came back into the tent to lay down with me. I zipped up the door and released her from her leash. Well, as I laid down for a few moments more of rest I realized that it was very quiet. I could not find Tampa! (It's a one-man tent - there is no room to hide). The door was zipped closed so what happened? Well, I didn't finish zipping across the bottom part and she went right out! And the fun began.
Literally, for 2 hours, she teased and fled from me, other campers, etc. She refused food from me if it was within my reaching her distance. She didn't trust the neighboring campers or kids to not stop her from her 'fun', so I just kept watching her. At one point she ran up to the highway - crossed it and went up a rocky embankment on the other side. I was pretty certain that I had lost her for good - then she comes flying back across the highway. My heart stopped. When I'd ignore her she would sit about 10 feet from me with a smug look on her little face. I'm serious.
Suddenly after two hours she walked up to me and sat right down. I immediately tied her up. The fellow camper agreed that she was running around and taunting us for at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours... felt like an eternity.
So my day started.
In the picture, if you look close, you will see where Tampa 'hid' her little sausage. In the firepit.
Had to go to Redmond to get a pair of hiking sandals as mine finally fell apart last night after 5 or so years. These little sandals took me through Guatemala, Nicaragua, San Diego, L.A. Mexico, hiking trips, etc. So, I suppose they deserve to say "we are done". While in Redmond it POURED rain - which meant I was not in a rush to get back to campsite. So, I walked through a cute small craft fair in Redmond to pass the time.
Upon returning to camp I noticed the lady in the site next to mine walked with a limp. Felt I had to ask why and it tuned out that she has M.S. We talked awhile on that and I shared about my sister passing this March from MS. She's had it for 15 years diagnosed and more before that. Great conversation. And, she lives in Portland. And, I am again reminded how much I miss my sister. If I could just call her again. Tell her I love her.
Later, I went to cook dinner and pulled out the Propane bottles which were put in the van... both of them were totally empty. I'm 20 minutes from town. So, I made a sandwich (thanks for the ham, denny) and just read.
All in all, it was a very nice day. Relaxing. Quiet (except for my dear Tampa).
Speaking of Tampa, when I put on her 'special' collar she was not happy. I tried to make it fun for her - but she won't believe me. However, later as I was reading, she began to sneak (yes, SNEAK) out of the campsite. All I had to do was give a quick "beep" SOUND and she turned around immediately and came back. Smart doggie.
Well, I had to come into town today for coffee and propane. Can't heat up water for breakfast, cook eggs, make coffee or anything without that propane. Well, last night I did fry up some hamburger for Tampa over the campfire... now my pretty stainless steel pan is a deep black on the outside from the flames. Worry about that later.
