Last Saturday we had a wonderful trip to a place called La Paz Waterfall Gardens. La Paz means peace. It was beautiful! We had so much fun there seeing different animals and the waterfalls. The park was set up as trails that let to different areas with different animals and exhibits. First we stopped at the birds. We saw parrots, macaw, and even pet a toucan! Then we went into this room where there were over twenty different kinds of butterflies and they were all just flying around you. A few landed on my hand and one landed on Patrick's face! Then we saw monkeys, hummingbirds, snakes, wild cats, and frogs. There was even a house built there that is modeled after a typical costa rican house from 100 years ago. The steps were made of bricks from volcanic rock and the roof was made from Nicaraguan shingles. It was pretty neat. The last stop was the amazing waterfalls. They were huge and it was just a magnificent view of God's creation. The water was so powerful and nature around the falls was just beautiful! Also while we were there we met an older american woman walking with a cane. She asked us what we were doing in Costa Rica and we said we were going to a language school for missionaries in San Jose. She said, it's not the Spanish Language Institute is it? She said, I went there about 50 years ago. What a crazy thing to bump into someone who has been where we are, learned the language, and used it there whole life! She was a missionary in South America for years and now she was just back in Costa Rica visiting for a little while. God has perfect timing. He definitely blessed us with this woman's brief story that day!
Well, we are half way through our trimester and are having a good time. Life is still crazy busy and we have our ups and downs all the time being in a foreign country learning a different language so keep praying for us. We are enjoying ourselves though and know that we are where God wants us to be.
