I collected my laundry this morning, my clean, freshly-washed laundry, and it was glorious! The stains on my socks may still be there, but they smelt just like they did when Mum brought them out of the dryer at home. Delicious.
Neither the cable cars up to Table Mountain nor the boat to Robben Island were running so I ended up at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. It wasn't my first choice, I'm not exactly blooming about flowers, but after seeing all the flowers, plants, and trees that filled the space below Table Mountain I'm converted! Thousands of wondrous colours, textures, and arrangements that are enough to make any non-green fingered novice melt whilst looking at the Bird-of-Paradise or Protea.
What wasn't so glorious was my face after I climbed the numerous steps up to Skeleton Falls, and after all the oopses along the way, it wasn't even worth the climb! At least Table Mountain was there to soften the disappointment!
Another less than glorious part of the day was the 120rand cost of the Rikki ride each way. Each way! The ride was interesting though, as the driver turned out to be from Cwmbran! It turned out he was from there originally and then moved to St. Louis in Illinois when he was 14 - less than 40 miles from where Catlin grew up! This truly is a minute world we live in.
