Well seeing as everyone surfs in Oz Me (rach) & Sian thought we would see what all the fuss was about and decided to go on a week long surf camp. We got to the base camp that was out in the wilderness, thinking that we would have at least an hour or 2 for sunbathing, but oh no they had us doing our 1st lesson of paddling techniques up & down the swimming pool on our boards. We were a bit puzzled why we were in the pool and not the sea, but we later found out a mini Tsunami had hit further down the coast. Then finally we were off to the beach to catch some waves (or at least try to!!!!) I thought it would be easy but boy was I wrong. We got tossed about, wacked over the head by the boards, swept out to sea and wiped out. At the end of our first day we were all happy to learn the most important lesson that would help us get through the week - DRINK, SURF, REPEAT......... DRINK, SURF, REPEAT............ Then happily put this into practice with our first night of party games & getting chucked in the pool fully clothed, ha ha!!!! By the second day we were all aching and in pain, didnt realise what hard work it would be, more like BOOT CAMP as opposed to Surf camp, he he!!! But as the week went on we all got better and actually surfed the waves. Although as we got taught it was all about "STYLE" - not that I had much style spent more time trying to crawl on the baord & dodge the waves!!!! And it was so cool the Dolphins come to play with us when were all in the sea. In the end it turned out to be a cool week, met some ace people, had top nights, camped in the outbcak and most importantly stood up on the surf board & surfed the waves.
