This is my last day on a tour for the whole trip! Can't wait to get out on my own, its going to be awesome. Can't wait to see Tim and Fiona and then Mum and Dad.
Today we drove about an hour out of Tripoli to the site of Sabratha. We had the same guide as yesterday, who, shock horror I don't actually mind, because he doesn't force people to follow him around.
We went and had a look in the museum first and saw a huge mosaic depicting the tree of life, that was found in a Byzantine church at the site. It also had another tiny little mosaic, in glass depicting small birds drinking from and amphora, it was quite something.
Onto the site, we visited the old forum and the baths, which were good, but nothing we hadn't already seen. The theatre at Sabratha, however, rivalled the one we had seen at Leptis Magna. Three stories of it survive, I had never seen anything like it. I climbed to the top of the seating area, and just sat alone and stared at it for ages.
It was a really hot day and it was very humid, so I was actually glad our visit to Sabratha had been a short one. We got back in the bus and went back to Tripoli and I spent the rest of the day not doing much of anything. Tomorrow, I am tour free and on my own in Libya. FINALLY.

Mum So it was a really hot day, lucky you, we are freezing to death here. So glad you enjoyed Leptis Magna, I knew it was going to be huge.
