DAY 24: 8:30 am departure for Berlin, Dresden enroute.
Dresden was a very beautiful city, famous as a victim of WW2 fire bombings. Alot of the buildings were restored extensively after WW2 although they had their UNESCO world heritage site removed as they built some bridge. It was only a quick 2 hour stop in Dresden for a quick walking tour and a lunch...then on the bus again for Berlin!!
We arrived in Berlin to the Wombats Hostel at 5:30pm after our driving tour of Berlin, which included a quick photo stop at the East Side gallery of the Berlin Wall (the murials on the wall were amazing!). It was a fantastic hostel, the best place we stayed at so far I reckon! We were in a really hip neighbourhood (much like Paddington and Surry Hills in Sydney, alot of chic boutique stores and restaurants & cafes). Dinner was provided at the hostel restaurant and then everyone migrated to the rooftop bar at the hostel for drinks afterwards. The view from the 7th floor rooftop bar was bloody fantastic! You could see the famous communism "toothpick" TV tower and the large Baroque style cathedral and other museum buildings in the near distance. A very chilled out place!! Stayed for a few drinks before hitting the sack for a free day tomorrow in Berlin!
