Iv made it, all the way down to Saigon we left Hoi An at 1:30 pm and the train ride was long and smelly at times but I enjoyed it, I spent most of the afternoon standing in the corridor and I managed to get a train window opened and I just stood there watching the rice fields go by and I was the only one I could see with my head out the window and every now and then there would be some overgrown tree branches hitting the train so I would duck in and out, my eyes were burning from all the diesel fumes that the train was letting off, I felt like jumping off the train every now and then and spending time wondering around all the beautiful places we were passing by I wish I had more time to spend wondering around away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities I stayed till it got dark and then me and Daniel watched a movie on the laptop, the hard sleeper carriage that we were in wasn't that bad we had 6 beds with 7 people in the room there was a Vietnamese family with a little girl and there were 3 beds one on top of another and we were on the top bunks and there was some room for us to put our bags, there was enough room between us and the roof to lift our knees up, but that's all we needed and it wasn't long before I was fast asleep a would wake up every now and then but I slept pretty well it was now 6am and I was awake I got off the bed and went out into the corridor and we had just reached the out skirts of Saigon and 30mins later we got to the train station, I had read the lonely planet guide book before and found some potential hotels we could stay at so we got a cab to a street near the centre and checked out a few hotels and found a nice one for $25 a night. First impressions of Saigon are nice it seems a lot quieter than Hanoi, we have 6 days to spend in Vietnam before our visa expires so I want to organise a few days to tour the Mekong delta and then go off into Cambodia for a week, so I found a local travel agency and they can organise a 3day tour of the Mekong delta and visit a huge floating market and we even organised a Homestay for one of the nights and instead of getting back into Saigon to go to Cambodia we organised a 7 hour boat ride up the river out of Vietnam and into Cambodia so that's going to me more interesting that a bus ride out of Vietnam so im looking forward to that, it started raing around 1pm and hasn't stopped since so I asked the receptionist where there is a bookshop so I could find a book to read the rest of the trip, I walked through the rain abit and eventually found a book shop and they didn't have many English book but I found one that is a best seller and its about a young soldiers memories during the war, I walked around till I found a quiet bar and sat down and spent the next few hours drifting away and imagining a different Vietnam to the one I have been seeing and on Monday were going to head out of town to see the Ho Chi Minh tunnels used in the war and I really don't know much about the war in Vietnam so im interested to learn a little bit about what went on during the war, im really looking forward to the next few weeks.
