Phil's Adventure
Hi! This is phil, beginning his journal entries. This is the best place to find out the latest on what i am up to in Africa. You can check out my progress on this site and send messages to me. Its all very easy to do, even my Dad could do it. (ok, well, maybe not him!)
Finally, October has arrived. It has been a long summer, working at the Corner House in Wells, my home town. The highlights were my Albatros Stunt during Carnival Week (see photos) and the fundraiser at the Whitehouse, within 2 weeks of each other in August.
I am going to teach kids in an orphanage near Mwanza, Tanzania, for 11 weeks. After that I will attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and then head to Zanzibar for a holiday.
It is now just a matter of days before I fly off to Tanzania. I have just about got all the stuff I am going to need, but a huge chunk of that has been taken up by mountain gear.
Can i take this further opportunity to thank all the people who donated and have given me goodwill messages. I raised the £1950 i needed to pay the direct fee. But with further donations I manage to pay for the flight and travel insurance. All other funds have been raised by myself through savings this summer. I am humbled by the number of people, including many strangers, who have supported and encouraged me to pursue this venture.
