Annyong haseyo (Hello) from Korea.
I've arrived. What a strange feeling. At least I am feeling something now. Think I have been surpressing my emotions. After saying goodbye to Dad and Pete, it begun to hit me that I am going to be away for a whole year. I went to a Sushi bar and generally went for healthy options. The flight over was fine, managed to get a few hours sleep. I've had a lot of green tea, already, plus seawood soup and bibimbap (a typically korean rice dish mixed with mince, greens and red pepper paste). Had the company of an Australian nurse for the journey and a window seat, although I saw nothing of Russia or Mongolia.
My agent, Anna, recognised me at the Airport. I don't think I would have spotted her somehow... she had no sign and is even shorter than she appears in the one photo i had of her. She arranged for a Mr Kim (I think they are all called that... or Mr Lee) to drive me to a nearby motel, where i found this internet cafe and used some Won for the first time. No need to go to Seoul, as I am heading to Kim-Po Aiport tomorrow to take an internal flight to Busan, in the South. There, I should be met by new employer, Mr Lee.
Anyway, there is a Korean version of Blind Date on the TV shortly, so I better go and catch it... and maybe learn a couple more Korean words before falling asleep.
It's 2000hrs now (midday in UK). Korea is currently 8 hours ahead, but 9 hours ahead of GMT.
Anyway,
Annyonghi kyeseyo.
Phil
