hello! i have found the sunshine yay! well ok its only been sunny here for 4 days and ive been here a week and a half but still its about time! i am in cairns at the moment and as you can expect have had an amazing time again!as the weather wasnt looking to brilliant at the start of the week i decided to go on a day trip to the tablelands which is just outside of cairns where there are rainforests and waterfalls. the weather was a bit rubbish but that didnt stop us from having fun, the bus was called 'gus the wonder bus' and our driver was called 'uncle bart' the whole journey was just singing and playing games. we walked in the rainforest and uncle bart showed us all different types of plants and some spiders!!! we then went to josephine falls, which is a large waterfall full of rocks which we could slide down. it was so much fun although it was little bit cold and those people who told me it would be fine when i got in were lying!!!as we were getting dry on the bus though there was a little bit of a drama when a lady came running out saying that her friend was drowning - uncle bart and some other people in our bus who happened to be trained in first aid or lifeguarding jumped out the bus to rescue the guy who had decided it would be a good idea to go down the rock slide in jeans and his trainers! ashamed to say he was a brit! long story short they managed to rescue him and he escaped with a broken rib and a bit of a shock! once the drama had died down we went on to milla milla falls which is the most photographed waterfall in australia and coincedentally the waterfall that is featured in the timoati shampoo adverts! (the one where she flicks her hair back infront of the waterfall!) it was then onto platypus hunting - not actuall hunting - just trying to find them to see them in the wild whilst drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows and muffins! was a brilliant day.
my next and main exciting thing that happened in cairns was i learned to dive with pro dive they were amazing! i not only qualified to my open water level but also my adventure level. i cant really talk properly about this because im still buzzing from the experience even though ive been on land for a whole day. i saw so many things, sea cucumbers are my favourite! and i saw a shark that was a bit scary but we were expecting to see one at night; on our night dive (yes i went to the great barrier reef and dived at night!surprisingly could see loads of things really clearly because there was a full moon!) was quite scared about the night dive as we had to wear glowsticks so they could tell where we were in the water! i was worried my glow stick would run out but thankfully it didnt and i didnt get lost yay! we saw a whale as well, i surfaced on my final dive of the trip and heard a shout of whale i turned round and he was right there and then he swam off! that was incredible! i saw a lion fish which only katie's team saw yay! there were turtles and nemo fish! ive already said it about a hundred times but it was amazing! lol! we also did a deep dive to 30m where you have to becareful because you might get narked this means basically you act a bit like your drunk. i wasnt too bad but i did find sitting on the bottom of the ocean quite difficult and i was a little bit wobbly. kendra was completely narked she kept giggling which is really bad coz ur mask fills up so you have to unfill it and she kept pointing at everything insanely! and then to celebrate we went out to the woolshed!and danced until they turned the lights on. i had my first yeiger bomb (not too sure on the spelling) it was gross but free and everyone else liked them! so today i have just relaxed by the lagoon trying to get a bit of a tan although not working brilliantly and then its off to magnetic island tomorrow! will keep you posted on everything thats happening! but diving rules!!!!!!!!!
