hey guys sorry for the delay in writing this blog but literally it has been a non stop action packed week in sydney (cant believe ive been here for over a week already the time is flying past!)
having arrived in sydney we went for a quick glance at the harbour bridge and the opera house in the lovely sunshine! was quite taken aback when i saw it - was like wow i am finally in australia! on the first day we sort of chilled out in australia as you do and went out for dinner in sydney centre point tower. the tower is a rotating tower and means that you can sit and eat dinner (which was an all you can eat buffet - marvellous) whilst watching sydney move past you! was brilliant! we had decided that we would have a quiet night in but the drinks were just too inviting!
the next day was a free day so i decided - on my hairdressers advice - to go to manly. manly is beautiful and i successfully did the 9k scenic walk! have since lost all my pictures so you will jsut have to take my word that i actually did that. in the evening i went to dinner in glebe and had bangers and mash yum yum yum!
Wednesday was amazing we got to a mini zoo where we saw our first koala bear yay! he was so sleepy! and we got to feed kangaroos did feel a little bad that the other night i had eaten his mum but hey ho nevermind! after we had gotten over the excitement of the kangaroos we made our way to hunter valley! where lots of wine tasting took place! it must be said that most of the wine we tasted was a little bit shocking (the port was amazing - should have bought a bottle) but the wine did seem to get a little bit better after the 2nd place that we went wine tasting at. im not sure if the wines were getting better or i was just getting more pissed! that evening i decided that it would be a brilliant idea to stay up and watch the englad game which meant i found my bed at 8.30 am on thursday morning! glad that we won but was a bit hard work - its times like that that makes you realise england do play boring footie!!!!
so after waking up a couple of hours later with a hangover and exhaustion i stumbled out of bed to see the downpour outside! our jet boat ride was cancelled as the boats and ferries were cancelled for the day because the weather was so atrocious so instead we went bowling!!!!!woohoo all this way and bowling and yes i was rubbish as usual! that evening we went to the gaffe where we went to see live bands i was pretty drunk and did have to leave quite early well about 2 but thats ok really!
claire and myself decided that we would be true tourists the next day as yet again it was raining! so we went to the aquariam and saw sting rays, sharks, turtles and sea lions it was amazing especially the walk through tunnels which felt like you were under the sea! the moon jellyfish were pretty cool aswell! after that we walked to the opera house in our waterproofs and flip flops (we thought our feet would dry out quicker than our trainers) we did manage to walk 10 minutes in the wrong direction but what do you expect really! when we finally reached the opera house it was still raining and we were very soggy! we did the opera tour and learnt some amazing facts like the opera house was supposed to cost 7 million dollars but finally cost 109 million dollars! they used a national lottery to pay for the work on the building as it is a gov building. and the opera house runs at a loss of 30 million dollars a year! we went back to the hostel leaving puddles everywhere that we went!
ok so that takes us up to friday evening - clearly ive been busy since then but am running out of time so will fill you in later on next week! hopefully we will soon have some sunshine and the horrible rain will go away!
