Im an Uncle agin! Have just heard that baby Lara Elizabeth has arrived and so am very excited writing this. It also means i win a pot of nutela as i had a wee bet that it was going to be a girl.
Leaving Bundaberg today (early tomorrow, 3:30am) and have had a really good time to be honest. The farm work was hard but it put a few more pennies in the bank account and is just about to fund my trip around Frazor Island! The past few days have been great though; Saturday i was working but only for a half day planting sweet potatoes and in the night had a fun game of poker, but Sunday was brilliant...
One of Mums old college friends lives just outside of Bundaberg so for the morning and afternoon i went to visit Carolyn and her family. Their house is fantastic as its out into the countryside and has a great garden full of fruit and veggies. After a tasty lunch and a tour of the family pets i was kindly loaded up with...a water melon, a paupia, several eggs, a few tomatoes and a bag of cookies. I got a few jealous looks back at the hostel.
In the evening was just as much fun as about 18 of us from the hostel went to see baby turtles hatch at a nearby nature park. After a 3 hour wait we all rushed down to the sand to see about 150 tiny Loggerhaed turtles burst from the sand and racefor the sea. It was reall amazing and i got some great photos of Squirt (Finding Nemo anyone?). AS they were all heading for the sea a few of us made a tunnel with our legs and they all ran through which again was fantastic, if a bit tickly on my bare feet.
I think iv got everything ready to leave so its just a case of eating all the food that doesnt travel tonight, throwing away my perminantly stained work T-shirt and getting a few hours kip before the bus to Hervey Bay. Cant wait until Fazor Island!
P.S. Happry Birthday Lara, 0 days old!
