We are now in Prague having arrived early yesterday morning from Krakow. We met some really nice English guys in our compartment who, funnily enough, all came from Surrey University.
The weather is quite unbelievably hot in the city, which makes walking around the winding, cobbled alleys and hills quite hard-going. Nevertheless, we have all been taken aback by the beauty of Prague - the ancient castle overlooking the city from the hill contains the striking St Vitus Cathedral and we took out a pedalo in the evening, meandering underneath the famous Charles Bridge on the Vistula River.
Prague is absolutely thronging with tourists - the clock in this picture famously strikes every hour and draws a mass of people into the Old Town Square.
Just as enjoyable as the scenery in Prague have been the prices: in the right places beer costs anywhere between 25 and 50 Kc (roughly equivalent to between 60 p and #1.10) and our hostel costs just #6.50 a night.
Today we are saying goodbye to Claire and Robbie for the last time, as they leave for Budapest tonight and sadly our paths will not cross again. We are going out to Tesco to stock up for a picnic and try and stay out of the heat!
Love Phil, Ciara and Matt
