Hey! So we arrived safely, finally, in Split after about 30 hours of travelling since budapest which now seems a world away. The journey was far from relaxing as we were in a carriage next to these portuguese girls who were drinking cheap wine and singing VERY loudly for the full 5 hours! As we were arriving we saw the most amazing sunset over Split, really beautiful place.
We were booked into a guest house which like everything in this part of croatia was very over priced. We decided to save on a taxi and walk but we had no idea where we were going so after a bit of blagging and chatting to locals in very broken english we got a bus to our place. We were only there for about 12 hours and bused in the 32 degree heat to the port to get a boat to Hvar. It all ran smoothly and the view from the deck was breathtaking.
Our plan was that we had no plan. we had no place to stay, (apparently getting a room for one night is not easy and we found that our the hard way!), but eventually an elderly lady offered an over price room and we haggled and took it. (oh forgot to say our plan was actually to sleep on the beach but we were told that it was illegal to we had to cough up some cash)
Hvar is like St Tropez. It is so expensive, very posh, full of super big super nice boats. really not a back packers destination. So much so that we saw Paris Hiltons sister last night surrounded by paparazzi. Went clubbing, got a hangover, and nowtrying to find some slightly cheaper island...but it looks like the croatian islands have been well and truly discovered.
Plan is to go to Korcula and then Dubrovnik. Were so relaxed and tannin! (even ciara!!!!)
Hope everyone back home is well and having an awesome summer. Sorry its been so long with no word.
lots of love,
