Hola Amigos!
We're having a bueno time over here, (and as you can probably tell we're practically fluent in Spanish now)!!
This message is coming to you from La Paz in Bolivia. Yesterday we survived the bike ride down the world's most dangerous road!!! It was really amazing and we met some really cool people doing it!!
We crossed the border on Thursday. Our last stop in Peru was Puno. From there we took an excursion out onto Lake Titicaca. We took a little tricycle taxi thing to the water front and from there the slowest boat ever to the floating islands. During the boat trip the driver fell asleep and had to be replaced by his 12 year old son!!! We found it very amusing, (if a little worrying)!!!!
The reed islands were very impressive. All the residents there wore really jazzy hats!! (Mum, you would have loved them)!!! While we were there, they finished building a reed boat. They got all the tourists to help launch it and then we got to sail it to the next island!!!
From the reed islands we went to another island called Tequille. It was a really traditional place. all the people there wore hats to signify whether they were single or married... it was really wierd!!!
The bus ride to Bolivia was pretty uneventful. The day before there had been a bus strike. As we were driving along on the Thursday, all the roads were covered with rubble and burnt out fires from the previous day's actions!
The first stop in Bolivia was Copacabana. We took another boat ride from there to "Isla Del Sol". It was supposedly the place where the Inca god of the sun came out of the lake!!!
Anyway, we're off to the bus station to book our tickets to the salt plains.
I hope you're all well,
Love Nick and Phil
