The last resting place of Leonardo da Vinci and what a life it was, it makes you feel rather humble.
Ambois is medium sized town, with yet another massive chateau that sits high above the town and below, houses that are either built into the cliffs or have houses projecting from them, with caves at the back. It is once again a baking hot day and we decide to have lunch out and sit in the shade. Plait de jour, consisting in our case, of chicken leg in a creamy thyme sauce with carrot/potato mash and a small slick of balsamic vinegar to add some art!! This was followed with a pancake and accompanied with a glass of white wine. Very nice and we left happy and went off exploring in near 30c heat.
We found some quite narrow side streets that had shade and joined what seemed to be the end of a conga as no one was going into the sun. Tess was struggling a bit and we decided to walk down to the river to cool off. This she did and we almost couldn't get her out as she kept running in and out. The water was quite warm and we had a paddle as well, I think we underestimate how hot the tarmac gets and how it affects your feet!
Quiet night and a glass of pop!!
