Hello all from Singapore!!
I thought it was about time I updated you on my goings-on. Last time I left you it was a few days before the big party in Koh Phangan. I am not sure if I mentioned it earlier but we had a nice hut up in the hills looking out over Haad Rin Beach, where the party takes place. We were happy up there because it was a bit quieter than being on the beach and we could laze around in our hammock during the day. However there was a draw back... Geckos. Or more accurately, small crocodiles. I went into our bathroom to shower and was confronted by a foot long lizard. He looked pretty happy where he was and had no intention of leaving of his own accord. I had to chase him out but unfortunately he took refuge on the underside of the sink. I couldn't get him out so we left him in peace and whenever we used the loo we had to be weary of a visit from our scaley friend.
The night before the beach party Monkey and I decided to take it easy, have a few beers and get an early night. We didn't want to jeopardise our performance at Full Moon by being very hungover. Morgan however had different ideas. He stumbled back into our room at 4 am with grazes and cuts down his face and arms. Apparently he had fallen asleep sitting on a wall and promtly fallen off onto his face. Fortunaltely the damage was only of the aesthetic.
So the day had arrived, the Full Moon Party! We woke up and found Monkey in the midst of a jungle fever. We took him down to the clinic and he was put up in a bed, put on dialysis and left to recover. Morgan and I left him to it. We did go back to visit him later on in the day and he was wrapped up in two thick blankets, a hot water bottle and was shivering with cold. His lips and fingers were blue and we were quite concerned. However Monkey was adament that we soldiered on without him. So we did.
The evening was very enjoyable, I couldn't tell you the precise details of what I got up to, the old memory is slightly muddled from that particular evening but we managed to last until morning, watching the sunrise over the sea was particularly nice. However by 8 am I thought it was time to throw in the towel. We trotted off to bed. The party, however, was still going off!
The following day we found out Monkey had been taken to hospital on Koh Samui, the nieghbouring island. We had tickets over there for the following day so we decided to join him then. We had a nice relaxing day, watched the Germans show England how football should be played (Fergie, sign up Ozil now please) and went to bed thoroughly deflated.
We went to Koh Samui the next day. It was very westernised, we had a Maccy Ds on arrival which was a luxury, particularly as they serve Double Big Macs. We picked up Monkey who was fully recovered and went out for a meal. We had three nights in Koh Samui and it was a bit of a chilled out one really. There was a bit of a strip with bars and clubs but we didn't over do it. We spent one day sun-tanning ourselves on the beach. Morgan stayed in the shade, he's ever so sensible. After that we decided to head to Phuket for a couple of nights and fly to Singapore.
Phuket was very similar to Koh Samui, westernised, McDonalds, "Irish" pubs and teeming with hookers... lot's of single older men. We had one fun night out and decided we were very happy to be leaving.
We arrived in Singapore this morning and are staying in Little India. We had a very nice curry for dinner and that pretty much brings you up to date. Tomorrow we have another day in Singapore and then we are heading to BALI!!!!!!! I cannot wait. Speak to you all soon! x
