Taupo (25th January 2007)

So we drove down from Rotorua in the morning to spend the day in Taupo before we had to drive further south to Napia to start fruit picking. (Not looking forward to working at all, I've got myself fully onto holiday mode). The backpackers we checked into impressed us right from the off. We got there and was told we could have an en-suite double room for 8 pound a night each! These backpacker hostels really are the places to stay. They are well kept and it seems to be a standard price all round.

Not much to report from Taupo though. It actually rained all day! So, we had no other option than to sit in the bar drinking. We did have a little walk around to have a look at the town centre but it really was miserable weather so just had to cut our losses!

Going to Napia in the morning to stay at the Prison Backpackers. I'm dreading to see this place!
