Hello again
We've had an amazing time living the highlife in Hong Kong. We stayed with Piers and Tonsie, which made a nice change from dingy hotel rooms. And, as true freeloading backpackers, we made full us of their pool and tennis court.
They seem to have really got the whole ex pat life style sorted....."Work hard, Play hard". Luckily for us, we only had to do the later.
It's pretty weird leaving China and crossing a border into erm...more China. So we're not quite sure what Hong Kong is - a country, an outpost, a state or as we're told by the commys in the north a Special Administrative Region SAR? Whatever it is pretty hard - when walking round the malls and skywalks - not to feeling an odd sense of pride... yes it was all built on the opium trade but that aside look what we, the British, achieved! Almost makes you nostalgic for the Empire (does anyone else have 'Jerusalem' playing in their heads?)
Anyway we had a great time P & T were top hosts - thanks guys - and if anyone is in the area we couldn't recommend it enough!
We are now in Kathmandu (via a ridiculous carbon producing flight via Singapore airport) and we are about to set off on a trek up Everest - exciting stuff, wish us luck
