Pete and Lou's Big Adventure
Wow if feels like ages since i written anything up here....havent got much time so will give you a brief update on the 3 islands that we have visited in the gulf of Thailand.
Koh Samui:
We werent sure weather to go here as its quite popular with the tourists but we met a couple who said Lamai Bay was nice so we thought why not. It was a mission to get here though. First our original ferry was cancelled so we stayed in Surat Tani for a day and a night. Nothing too really report from there. Then we opted for a cheap night ferry with the pigs. Dont Ask!
Lamai bay was nice....we stayed in a lovely cheap beach hut (200baht) a night which was right on the beach. See photos!!
Koh Phangnan:
The party capital if thailand for the backpackers is here with the full moon parties a must for this population. We arrived 4 days before the full moon party and yet no accomodation in Hat Yai on sunset/sunrise beach! So we stayed 10mins outside. It was so much cheaper that in Hat Yai. The bad news is that we missed the Full moon party as we found a deal to do our open water dive course on Koh Tao Beginning the day before the party. Good news is that we a great night out there 2 nights before so we arent all that bummed! Even better news reports from the Backpackers that followed on too Koh Tao after the party said it wasnt that great......
Koh Tao:
What can i say we loved this place. We completed our open water dive course with PADI and now are certified. It was a great 4 days on the course with the theory and academic exams we had to complete. The pool sessions were so funny learning all the skills. So many times we both chocked and nearly drowned underwater cause we couldnt help but laugh. The 4 dives in the sea were cool too....we went and saw a wreck which was wicked. I cant put down in words what an amazing experience diving is!
