Pete and Lou's Big Adventure
We love the north of Thailand. Ok so up until now we have been mainly beach bums and havent experiene what some people class as real Thailand.
We arrived well again at silly oclock in the morning after surviving another night bus journey and there were Monks everywhere. We were told that one of there first jobs of the day was too get there food for the day.
Chaing Mai its self is a great place...the temples are amazing and the people here are so friendly. Its so different to what we have come to think of Thai. They have an amazing Sunday Market from 1pm-12am. We were lost in there for hours......it was massive and believe me they sold everything. Fried scorpian anyone?
We ventured out of the city to again experiece the real thailand....We went on an amazing 1 day elephant trek. I was so scared to sit on the thing and ended up feeling sorry for it having to lug me and pete around for hrs. We honestly went up and down hills, through water etc.
We went on a visit to some hill tribes too......a mission to get there mind you. We visited the hilltribes known as Karen and Mong. A very humbering experiene. We were followed arounf by two children trying their very best too sell us some beads. Every few mins "Ello Lady...10 Baht". These people are so self efficient its puts us all to shame!
We also went Bamboo rafting...petes idea. It was really funny and we got soaked in the most disgusting of waters!! One of those thing though that just had to be done.
