Pete and Lou's Big Adventure
We heard great things about this place before we wrrived here so we thought it must be worth checking out! On our journey south from Rotorua we stopped off for a couple of hours at Lake Taupo, a really beautiful little town on the edge of New Zealands largest lake.
When we arrived in Tonagriro National Park, Lou wouldn't keep quiet as she was excited about seeing her first snowy mountain. Simple things, eh? he he. I cant say I blame her though, after all we were approaching Mount Ruapehu aka Mount Doom!! When we arrived here at our campsite we were a little bit shicked to discover we were the only people here...oh well the ski season hasn't started yet and the crowds really start arriving then! The plan was to bunk down for the night then tackle the Tongariro Crossing the next day but the weather (and our lacking of suitable clothing) didnt permit. So we settled for some shorter but still amazing walks.
Apart from walking and taking in some of the LOTR sights we havent much for the last couple of days, but who cares, its not like we have work to go to or anything!
Next time you hear from us it will be from Windy Welly - or Wellington for those of you who dont know.
Byee!
