Happy Mothers Day!! To all you beautiful mothers out there, (and yes, to you ugly ones as well), we wish you a very happy mothers day. We hope you got to put your feet up at least till lunch time, and had a bit of an easy day before having to do the cleaning, washing and cooking!! That's it for another twelve months, we hope you made the most of it... Really, you are all loved.
We all enjoyed another big sleep-in this morning, it was 8am before we were up and about. Jo didn't get out of bed until 8.30, something about it being a special day, and it being her right... She's married to me, every day is a special day, full of 'special' people... The boys gave her a card each, and she got her opal bracelet, which she had picked out in Coober Pedy. We then went straight over to the pancake breakfast put on by the park, and were very pleased to find Brendan (the park owner) doing the pancakes. Ate some pancakes, had a bit of a chat, ate some more pancakes, and finished breakfast with another pancake. They do this every sunday morning, all year round. The most pancakes ever cooked for one breakfast is 920. Today he thinks they did about 350. One bloke has eaten 14 pancakes in one sitting!! (No, it wasn't me! I only managed three). I reckon there would have been 80 people there during the time we were there, but there were people coming and going the whole time. It's a sensational event, everybody was raving about it, and he's been doing it for 15 years. Genius!! (Must get Tony to design a BBQ trailer when we return...)
As promised, for Jo's special day, we went in to the markets. We wondered up and down, but didn't really see anything that inspired us to purchase, or really even to stop and look at. We got a cup of coffee, and some morning tea, and then headed over to the Alice Spring Reptile Centre. This was great fun!! Not at all like a zoo, picture more of a large vet hospital in the middle of a residential suburb, with display cages and pens lining the walls and outside in the yard. All kinds of snakes on display, venemous and non venemous, lizards, geckos, frogs and one mother of a crocodile...yes, that's right, a three meter crocodile, in the middle of residential Alice Springs...with a neighbour on the other side of the fence... Far out!! It wasn't the most modern facility, but it was well kept, and all the animals were easy to see and kept in cages that resembled their natural habitat (other than the flourescent lights, glass panels and sticky beaked humans poking their noses inside). Jeremy and I both held 'Tom' the Olive Python, but Jo and Dylan weren't up for it. Then Jeremy, Dylan and I patted 'Frank' the Spencers Goanna (he just wandered freely around the place, not in a cage), but Jo wouldn't touch him. Then we saw 'Terry' the three meter crocodile, and Jo, Jeremy and I watched, as it played with Dylan (whom I'd tossed over the little fence). We had a really good time watching the 'Thorny Devils', which were really cute, and everybodys favourite, as they walked and moved like robots, very jerky and automated, and would freeze in place if they felt threatened...very funny to watch, and since it was an open pen outside, we were able to tease them a little bit and play games with them... Small things amuse small minds people... We couldn't do Flying Doctor or School of the Air today, because it's sunday, so they've been shuffled to later in the week, but no worry, we have time to spare.
We had lunch back at home in the caravan, (more of the meat that had defrosted on the trip from Uluru), and spent the rest of the day enjoying the weather and facilities at the park. The boys played on the jumping pillow, then had a swim in the pool, and we planned more of our activities for tomorrow. I have to say, the park here is magnificent, and I think this is the best caravan site we've had since we left home. It certainly raises the bar for most of the other places we've been to, and for ourselves also. We're learning alot while on this trip, it will be interesting to see what we put in place when we get home...
Tomorrow we're planning to drive to some of the scenic places in the East Macdonnell Ranges, along the Ross Highway, but only as far as the bitumen takes us. We're not allowed on dirt in the hire car, and I'm not going to push our luck by straying, no matter what we'd see if we did. The way things are going, it's just not worth the risk. Also tomorrow, I'm going in to see the service center at the dealer to see if they can move the Pajero along any faster than they originally said, and Brendan said he'd put in a call and ask a favour too... Might help, might not, all we can do is try...
While we're in there, we might get that little rock from the center console and post it back to Coober Pedy. Might help, might not, all we can do is try... At this point, anything is worth a shot...

Ginny Tony saw the photo's you sent to work yesterday and he's wondering if he is going to have enough time to finish all these projects before he retires. Very jealous of the weather your getting there as it has been quite chilly the past couple of days, but not as cold as Bathurst thank goodness. Happy mothers day to you to Jo, hope you had a very relaxing day but I think most of your days are relaxing at the moment. Got 2 phone calls yesterday from up north. It was Kasey's birthday yesterday so a double celebration on the Gold Coast and David rang last night as well. House is nearly finished and all is well there. Me, I had a very lazy day, no housework, fish and chips for dinner and watched a movie before crashing in bed. As I have said before we love reading the blogs everyday so again have fun, stay safe and give the boys a big hug from us. Love T&G.
Aunty Min Well thank you Pete, I'm so glad you included us Ugly Mum's in your Mothers Day wishes :-P (right back at cha Love). Sounds like an awesome day. Hope it all pans out, don't rush things, remember, everything happens for a reason, don't question that reason!! You were not meant to be where you thought you would be at that time, it is fate ny friends. Sending the rock back won't help, it needs to be returned to where it was taken from, not the town. (The cultural cnt at the rock has loads of them all sent back with apologies etc etc, but unless they are returned to where they were picked up it means nothing). That is, if you believe that kind of thing....... I say it's just lonely & needs a friend, hehehehe. Hugs. xx
