Good evening stalkers...
Well, no new news tonight, we've had a massive relax day, and done most of nothing at all. Woke up this morning at a reasonable hour, and ambled out of bed, just taking our time. There's no rush, we're here for the long haul. Made pancakes for breakfast, and then sat down to read all the information about the park we're at, and what there is to do in Alice. The boys took off to the jumping pillow, and would likely be there most of the day. Being responsible parents, we let them go alone... Soon realized we'd made a mistake having pancakes for breakfast, because every Sunday morning, the park does a free pancake breakfast for all the guests. Tomorrow's Sunday, so that'll be pancakes for breakfast twice in a row. Couple that with the bakery binging and the massive dinners and desserts lately... we probably need to start walking again! So I did! Straight to the laundry to put on a load of washing, and straight back to the caravan for some Tim Tams and morning tea... (Baby steps people... Start slow and build up from there...) As the washing progressed, we made a list of the things we thought we'd like to do, and when we thought we could fit them in. It's quite a long list, as there's lots to do, which is good, as we're here for a while and don't want to sit around worrying about the car etc... In the middle of our stay, we even thought we might drive out to Glen Helen Resort and stay the night? See all the gorges and swimming holes and sights along the way, and return the following day. That might break things up a bit... Also, there's a quad bike tour we could do, which would get us very dirty and dusty, and Jo said she'd give it a go, so if it's suitable for both the kids, we'll do that too...
Anyway, after hanging the washing on the line, (2 loads), we drove into town to see what was going on in there (we collected the kids first, we're not that bad parents)... Not alot really, lots of tourists walking around spending money, and lots of locals hanging around having it spent on them... The dry Todd River bed was an education for the boys, and the questions flowed thick and fast... How do you answer them honestly, without passing on the same prejudices and judgements that we made?!? We tried, and I think Jeremy understands... Then we saw a genuine gypsy 'caravan', and we moved on... Alice is alot less 'cosmopolitan' than they try to pretend, isn't it? Both boys held our hands the whole time we were there, which is most abnormal, and were quick to agree to return to the park once we'd finished our grocery shopping. Dylan of course, bought more Lego, because you can never have too much...
The rest of the afternoon was spent folding the washing and trying to foresee the future... I had much more success folding the washing! The boys returned to the jumping pillow, Jo and I had a walk around the park, which is absolutely huge, and amazingly beautiful and green, and at 5pm we wandered down to an entertainment area, where a local didgeridoo expert was giving a demonstration on how to play. He was brilliant!! He made it sound so good, and look so easy!! There was between 50 and 60 people there, and when he asked if people wanted to try, Jeremy put up his hand. That surprised me, but not as much as the sound he produced. From having lessons at clarinet, he plays a mean didgeridoo... And is now determined to buy one... Which would be a pretty good souvenier I suppose... That just about completed the laziest day of our trip so far, other than cooking lots and lots of meat for dinner (Jo let the freezer defrost in our current run of misfortune), and now watching the new Sherlock Holmes movie on DVD...
Sorry if todays events are an anti-climax, but I think it's just what the doctor ordered, and has given us a chance to recharge our batteries. As a matter of interest, I've had a migraine for the last two days solid, and it's now gone... When we left Coober Pedy, I had no mouth ulcers. When the tow truck collected Pixie, I had one mouth ulcer, and by the time we arrived in Alice, I had three. I still have them, but they're going... Tomorrow will be another slow day, but we'll do more stuff. The markets are on in town, and we always go to the markets (can you see my happy face?), and then the Reptile Park and maybe the Flying Doctor or School of the Air. We'll see what we can fit in, and I'll let you know tomorrow...
Until then, keep smiling, and stay with us.

Aunty Min Owh I'm with ya, stuck like glue in fact. G & P say the cultural cnt (out opposite the Sturt C'van Pk) is good & has an airplane museum there too. Must see the lost plane that d*** Smith found doova dakka also there. The skl of air was good & kids 'got' that, but so did they the other so both woethwhile. Staying at Glen Helen would be a top idea, see the 'real' helicopter that Granny went in!! Now I warn you "resort" is as true as "Plenty" is a highway, it's a load of bull. Papa says not many stars required!!! The must sees, ochre pits, Ormiston, Red bank, Stanley, owh they're all there. G & P say buy some cheap surf mats & swim up the gorges, wish they had of!! (note to self, i will be) Or a couple of those little boats w oars (might be a bit $$ tho) they're now arguing about which one (gorge) was this & was that, hang on (wish we were skyping this so you could see & hear it, pmsl) No, they've come to the conclusion that you have to float up all of them. You won't be able to get to Roma gorge, it's 4WD but others all have sealed roads. Go on off you go. Might need 2 nights by the sounds!!! THAT'S IT, I've decided we're going back next winter!!! East Mc. Ranges too. Trephina (?) Gorge etc yummy!! Again all sealed road. Papa says further on there is Ross river Resort!! It makes Glen Helen look pretty freakin awesome apparently. Bahahaha. Kids would like the truck & train museum!! Owh the suggestions are now coming thick n fast, I'm ducking & weaving like a samurai soldier, look out!!! Can't type quick enough. (hope Dags & Shell are getting this too). Both ourselves & G & P agree, the food @ Glen Helen is good, but fuel (only fuel out there too) is $$. See how many days you end up 'stuck' there. Kings Canyon is absolutely spectacular, if you liked The Rock, you'd LOVE K.C. It'd add a min of 3+ days, but like I said if you've got days to kill..... Hope we've helped & not compounded your decision making. Think it all over during pancake b'fast ...lol... Hugs n snugs from The Jarvis Mugs. Xx
