Day 1
26th July 2013
So my next adventure starts, 3am and sat on the floor at Heathrow terminal 4 and apart from Caffe Nero everything is closed. Well at least I can have a coffee. When you arrive at the front of terminal 4 your get the impression that after its multi million pound make over before the Olympics last year the builders till haven't taken away all their tools. Lined up on the flower beds in front of the building are brightly coloured wheelbarrows ! I mean what kind of impression does that give to tourist to our great capital? Art well some may say its art but to me it just looks like the builders have left them behind and someone gave them a make over with some cans of spray paint.
So my trip this time is to deepest darkest Peru as paddington bear used to say. My itinerary starts in Lima then heads down the coast to Nazca onto Arequipa and the inland to Cuzco. From there it's onto what I hope to be the highlight of my trip and the main reason for coming to Peru "Machu Picchu" one of the new seven wonders of the word. After that we head down to Lake Titicaca before heading back to Lima to end our journey.
I check in an I must admit Air France have got it right. Self check in and then drop your bags off and done, so impressed after previous experiences with airlines. Time for duty free but unfortunately not enough time for breakfast as nothing seems to be open yet!!!!
I arrive in Peru around 16:00 local time which is 22:00 Uk time. I'm met in the arrivals lounge by Daniel the G adventures rep and he calls for my transport.
I arrive at the hotel around 17:00 and reception is full of young American travellers just about to check out, the noise is deafening. I get into my room and its nothing like the photos shown online but its clean and all I really want to do is crash out on the bed, so grab a beer out of the fridge and by 19:00 I can hardly keep my eyes open. Time to catch up on my sleep ready for the start of my adventure tomorrow .
