Today's duty station is the Scudder Excavation pit, which is a demonstration of a paleontologist dig site for park visitor to see the geological layers of the Florissant Formation. My job is to wait for visitors to come and then interpret the site. Often there are more wild visitors than people. But I definitely don't mind that. This Aspen tree was pointed out during a nature hike at Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. There are scars on the tree that were left by a bear who obviously climbed up this tree.
