Clearly, I am getting a lack of visitor to the blog nowadays, so I have taken your advice Nik and am writing another blog entry, in hope to get some higher ratings. I did consider that maybe trying to sex it up a bit would help, you know maybe some pictures of hot women and me, or some llamas and me sky diving together.....you know that sort of thing. But, I know there is a chance that my mother may read this, and as for the llamas.....well.............I know that Niks got an old fetish for all furry animals.......so I thought that maybe thats not such a good idea either!
Well anyway...........Life has gone quite here again in Cusco, now that Karen has headed back to the UK. Since then, I had to travel down to Bolivia to renew my visa, as Peru issues only a 90 day one. You only have to be out of the country one day, and you can return with a sparkly new 90 day visa. But, seeing that I just seem to be bumming around of recent...........i.e. drinking smoking eating, more eating and playing poker with the local ex-pat community, oh and spending time with my darling Angela.......which usually includes drinking, smoking, eating more eating and playing poker...well to be honest she just watches me play! (only joking!! - I'm not that bad really).............Yup, well I thought I would take some time out in La Paz the nearest city to the Peru border. Its about 12 hours by coach, costing around 70 Soles, which equals about £12, and the coaches are super duper delux jobbies. La Paz in Spanish means 'The Peace', which is kinda of ironic because its anything but. Its a kinda of place you need to watch your back every 5 minutes especially late at night. I read a little booklet about some of things that go on there. It said you need to be careful of the taxis, people bag snatching in the bus station and on the street, deception crimes and con men. One con man in particular got a mention.........apparently a wide eyed Peruvian fella claiming to be from New York who has just got out of jail in La Paz, and needs your help......blah blah. So, there I am ten minutes later, sat in an internet cafe (wondering whos ever gonna read by sta blog) and in walks a fella. Who says to me in a really bad New York accent. "Hey Man, I've just got outta jail here in La Paz........." I couldn't believe my luck!! His accent was so bad I thought he said, I've just got out of the jungle! I couldn't help my self.........I said dont you mean 'Jail'............and in my best spanish said.........."Mi hijo, tu eres muy muy famouso" "puedo tocar una foto?" Which I guess you can probably understand!! With that he ran off...like a big girl!!
Well one of the main reasons to travel to Bolivia is to cycle down the most dangerous road in the world. Which got its title from killing over 200 people on average a year! Its 64Kms of down hill sex on a mountain bike. About 30Kms are on tarmac, and the rest on dirlt and gravel. Oh yeh.........the bit that kills people is the 300-600 metre drop that is usually on your left hand side. The road is still open to traffic, and its apparently common to see trucks coming the other way. But luckily the guide, who travels at the front had a high-tec way of informing the punters steaming down behind him that something is coming.....yes....its okay he has a whistle! Its a quality day out............and there will be some photos and for the first time ever on this site.........a video....yes a video.........watch this space.
I was gonna travel to Salar De Ayuni which are salt flats in the east of Bolivia, but its a long trek including a 12 hour bus ride from La Paz to the town of Ayuni and then 4 days in a 4x4. But considering the problems I had with my posterior last time I sat on a plane too long..............I thought I would save it for another time.
Well now I'm back in Cusco, and this Sat me and Angela fly up to Lima for a trip to the British Embassy. To apply for a travel visa. Apparently its not to easy to get into the UK. You need all sorts of documents and invitations and other things. Obviously its hard to get into the UK...........look at the lack a foriegn people there!
So I shall let you know how all that goes. Hopefully, if all good then I shall be back in the UK within a month or so.
Catch you later peeps. Love and kisses xxxxxxxxx from the big man,
PJ
