Started the day off with more sightseeing. Headed to the Ginkakuji Temple (Silver Pavillion), Kinkakuji Temple and Ryoanji Temple. This last one has a special Zen rock garden, one of the masterpieces af Japanese culture. There are beautiful gardens surrounding the area and it all makes for a peaceful thought provoking morning.
Really enjoyed my time in Kyoto...with the option I would have spent more time here. It has a lovely feel about the place. Had to head back to Tokyo this afternoon so that I could get the first train to Tokyo Airport in the morning. Stayed at K's Hostel in Toko tonight. Had a bit of fun finding the place...I forgot to print off a map for directions, so I headed to the subway station which I knew it was closest to then stopped a cab. Showed the driver the address and thought that would be it. He spent ages looking at the address, looking at the roads around him...walking around a bit...phoned the hostel for what must have been 5 minutes...handed me the phone to speak to them...took the phone off me just as I was getting somewhere...phoned one of his mates/colleagues...and after all of that we found out that the hostel was about 5 buildings down from where we were stood!! As with all the Japanese I ahve met though he just laughed, wouldnt take any money (he had spent a good 5 or so minutes helping me) and even drove my rucksack to the door.
