We arrived at about 6am feeling alot better than we had anticipated. This feeling was increased as we walked down the beach front to our hostel. The sun had just rose from the horizon and presented us with the wonders of the South China Sea and a scatter of Vietnamese islands. This was a welcome sight after the busy city of Saigon. After dropping off our bags and having some breakfast we went for an early swin in the sea. After this we wandered round the town and booked our open water PADI scuba diving course to start the next day.
In the morning we started with some DVDs and took a couple of multipe choice exams on the literature we had been given as homework. In the afternoon we headed for a local pool with our instructor Kris to learn the skills we would need when out in the sea. This lasted about 2 1/2 hours, afterwards we went to the beach, Hello Sunburn, then had a few drinks and something to eat in the evening before having a early night.
The next few days were filled with purely scuba diving. Starting at 9am we had two dives in the morning, studying and exams in the afternoon and homework during the evening. Over the course...of the course we had 6 dives which were all excellent, each one better than the last. We saw Angel fish, Rainbow fish, Squid, Jelly fish, and four sea turtles, im sure there is no need to tell you what we named them. Other memorable events of Nha Trang included a Seafood Platter fresh form the days catch for 4 pounds. Playing a game of football with the locals on the beach; a bunch of Irish lads were getting battered before the scousers showed up and started throwing some Tony Hibbert tackles about. We also found a cool bar that played some great tunes including Cold War Kids and The Cribs. I found a new champion for 'Meal Of The Trip'; Beef In Lot Leaf. It is incredible, if you find it do not hesitate for a second. I also managed to get seaon 5 of The Wire put on my ipod for just over a fiver, you would not believe how happy I am.
We ended our time in Nha Trang by getting on our sleeper bus and starting an 18 hour journey to Hue.
