Lovely town, featured in last weeks Sunday Times Travel Section. A twenty minute walk - my speed - from the aire is stretching my capability but I've never seen a town with so much alfresco seating. Left St. Jean de Luz this morning for Spain, traveling via an Intermarché as we needed GPL, more difficult to come by on Spain. Arrived mid-afternoon to find one space available on the always busy aire. Several minutes inching our way backwards and forwards and we're in a gap within touching distance of the vans on either side. As soon as we're in, a van pulls out leaving a much wider gap. Quite a long drive today - by our standards. Around 120 miles with a shopping stop at an Intermarché, a lunch stop on a motorway aire and a coffee stop at a McDonalds where we took advantage of the free wifi to check our emails - thanks to all who have emailed us - sort out 15 app updates and to load our prepayment card with more cash. We were last here June 2010. Since then there has been a lot of building, still going on. On our last visit we were woken around 5.00am on a Sunday morning as hundreds of cyclists started unloading their bikes from their cars. Today we should be safe as it's a Tuesday. The downside to that is that the only bar is closed all say, Tuesday.
