Lost keys. Pleasant lunch 26€ Evening meal. Peter & Jeanette. Concorde and on board car.
This is a nice town with a huge Stellplatz and free water. On our first day we walked into town but the next day took the bikes, chaining them up firstly on the outskirts of town and then outside the local supermarket. It was when we had finished shopping that we discovered I had lost my keys, including that for the bike lock. We walked the shopping back to the van and returned to town. Going to the Tourist Information we intended asking them to phone the local police station for us. No need - a box of lost keys was produced and there were ours. Wonderful, and retrieved for 3€.
So pleased and relieved we had lunch out, at a 'Vodaphone' restaurant. Good service and a modest cost.
A Concorde van pulled onto the site. What a thing - with a whirr of electric motors the back opened and a small white car gently rolled down the ramp. Whew!.
Whilst having lunch next day in the van there was a knock on the door. Peter, a New Zealander, had spotted our GB number and fancied a little English conversation. We were only too happy to oblige, the upshot being that we got really friendly over the next few days and he and his wife Jeanette watched the Olympic Games closing ceremony with us. We talked amongst other things about how useful our Kindles are whilst travelling but that D's had packed in. Before we parted Jeanette brought over a carrier bag full of paperbacks - a lovely and very welcome surprise.
On the Sunday we woke up to find a huge Flohmarkt occupying the main car park. In the evening we walked to a restaurant on the edge of town intending just a drink and then dinner in the van. It was a nice evening, the view was great, the waiter pleasant with quite good English so of course we ate and enjoyed our dinner!.
