Our local bar
Bar La Espiga is our local bar for late night drinks.
The first time we went there Paul ordered a whiskey and to his pleasant surprise the serve came out in a cognac glass with a massive pour for the cost of 5 euro. Unbelievable! We have been going there ever since.
We also met a couple in their 80s who live upstairs and go their every night for drinks. We have become locals they tell us.
We have become friends with the staff and were invited to Joseba (the barman) birthday. The bar is 85 years old and is run by 4 brothers and a sister and overseen by their mamma - the matriach of San Sebastian who comes in every night at 10.30pm for some wine and pinxtos. (She is the one in grey jacket)
This particular night mamma shared with us some pintxos - the famous Iberico ham - it was amazing. We were very lucky to be included in the familia.
Its a great bar - Paul will get a job behind the bar when we move here.
