24th June 2006 - Day 85
Set off from Brissie via Surfers Paradise to Byron Bay. So driving most of the day set out in the glorious sunshine when we stopped for a walk along the golden sands of Surfers Paradise but by 4pm it was chucking it down. Cleared again by the afternoon. We arrived in Byron Bay to find a campsite at the edge of town.
25th June 2006 - Day 86
Got up to take a walk along the coast towards the famous lighthouse. Saw hundreds of surfers out on the breaking waves from the cliff tops walk. The Byron Bay lighthouse is the most eastern point of Australia - amazing blue skies and even a few dolphins/porpoises out in the water were possible to see.
Later we set off south again. Stopped at Bunglalow a olde market town full of posh little galleries and art shops all a bit touristy. Painted wooden old fashioned buildings tarted up a little for the tourists.
Camped at Coffs Harbour that night.
26th June 2006 - Day 87
Coffs Harbour - Cessnock. Followed the pacific highway south. Via Nambucca Heads and Port Macquarie. So more miles on the clock for little Charlene. It was then time to head inland to vineyard country for us on the hunt for vino. Aimed for campsite in Cessnock, a town with suburb called Aberdare.
