Hi All,
Apologies for not writing since getting here. Things have been really busy and we've just generally been rubbish. But here's the story so far.
After a nice long night's sleep the first night we ventured out to find another hotel. Being used to a slightlky more comfortable hotel from the first night we soon realized we probably would have to set our siughts slightly lower (yes, a shower over the toilet is perfectly normal here!) We then ventured out on one ofBangkok's infamous Tuck Tucks, and experience in itself, to explore the famous standing Buddha and the Golden Mount, as well as Thailand's Tourism Authority (we have now booked a tour for the North once we get back from Vietnam. The Standing Buddha was awesome although we could not really get that close as a ceremony was going on but we think they were actually making a new Buddha so it was really good to watch. The Gloden Mount was unfortunately closed when we got there but we did manage to find a really quiet temple close by, where we saw onkly a few monks meditating, a really unique experience. The evening was spent relaxing in a bar in Khao San Road with a local band playing in the background. The following day we ventured to both the Emerald Buddha and the Grand Palace. Check out the pictures although they really don't do the place any justice. In the evening Ryan and Bryn joined us from Hong Kong and we again spent the evening enjoying food and drinks on the Khao San. We actually managed to find another bar with a live band which again was awesome. Today we're having a relaxed day, possibly with a bit of shopping and going to see some more temples, before leaving on our tour to Cambodia and Vietnam tomorrow. Hope to hear from you all soon and we'll keep you posted on what we get up to in the next few days.
All the best,
Mette & Paul
