Hi All
Got abit to get through as were currently back in Bangkok with the view to travel to Australia tomorrow. Before that we were in Krabi for two days and then Koh Pangan for four days.
We last updated our journal just as we arrived in Krabi Town, therefore we'll continue as from there. Whilst in Krabi we managed to hire a moped and headed out one morning to the Huay Waterfalls, which was absolutely fantastic. Al was alittle nervous about the prospect of hiring a moped and too be honest so was I, however being the man and all couldn't let on ofcourse. It was probably the best decision to date that we have both made as we drove out into the open roads of humble Thailand with nothing but beauty surrounding us, ofcourse Al was the biggest beauty of all as she hung on behind ha! Had to get that one in. Earns me brainy points.
Following a long drive to the Huay Waterfalls / National Park we trecked through the jungle fighting off large man eating spiders, anoconders and killer monkeys before finally finging the waterfalls, which were spectacular. Well worth the fight I tell you all.
OK the above was slightly exagerated but I prefered that story.
Later that eveing we popped to the local food market, which was exactly what you'd expect from a typical Thai marekt. Open aired with everything fromfresh fruit, all shapes and sizes to pad thai, fresh fish, octopus and fried cockroaches. Neith of us could quite bring ourselves to eat the fried cockroaches, only because we'd already ofcouse ha!.
All in all, Al and I really enjoyed Krabi more so as it was a refreshing change from Koh PhPhi Don, with little restaurants and market stalls for Al.From there we moved onto Koh Pangan by bus and ferry.
When we reached Koh Pangan it was very late indeed, however straight away both Al and myself agreed that we just had a good feeling about this place and we were'nt wrong one little bit. Firslty our accomodation was fab. We stopped in a place called 'SEA BREEZE BUNGALOWS' just ona hill overlooking the sunset beach of HAT RIN. It was away from noise but within walking distance. We had our own pool virtually for our duration there just foot steps away and the staff were extremely friendly.
That evening we found a loverly little restaurant, which served fresh shark steak, which I was well happy with. Following this we popped down to HAT RIN beach for a couple of drinks/ However, things turned alittle messy and we never rolled back into our appartment until 3.00 oclock in the morning follwowing a few Samsong buckest, Chang Beers, Vokda Rebulls that Paul managed to win in the beach footy competition. Paul ended up diving through a flaming hoop and Al was freely dancing away to the music that surrounded us at the 'Drop In Bar' just off Chicken Corner for any of you that have had the pleasure of Koh Pangan.
Next day was a haze indeed following our antics the previous evening. We lazed about by the pool and felt sorry for ourselves, which was all self inflicted we know.
Alanna managed to pull a few strings on me and get us onto a Thai Cooking Course the following day, which I must admit was a good laugh although we had to open a few trouser/skirt buttons afterwards. Leant how to cook Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, some spicey thai soup and for desert banana's cooked in coconut milk (Al's favourite). Hopefully be able to rustle up a few courses on our return for you all. For a small fee of course. ha!
Valentines day was nice and relaxed as we lay by the pool, nursing a hangover and on the evening we both went to pamper ourselves with Swedish/Thai Massages, Bamboo Facials, and a Manicure for Al. Following that we popped to our favourite restaurant (Sawsadee Banana) again before an early night.
Managed to do alittle more shopping before Paul decided on another tatoo. Never again I swear as this one really hurt. I mean more than ever before. Almost as if someone was continuously stabbing me in the lower torso. Al unfortunately had the angwish of watching we suffering for best part of 2 hrs. Just hope it was all worth the pain. Al really looked after me though. Bless her kind little heart. Go only knows what I would have been like had she not been there with me.
Both really sad to see Koh Pangan off but so greatful had we managed to experience it. Most certainly come back. We then had the pleasure of looking forward to a 19 hr boat/bus/train journey back to Bangkok. After our previous journey to the Al was much more pleased with the train journey oppose to the coach and I agree. St least we were able to walk around and catch some shut eye in the comfort of a bed.
That brings me back to the present, Bangkok. We finalised present shopping yesterday at the MBK market and Chatchuchak market and hope to see it sent off home today/tomorrow. Al's now off to get her hair coloured/ pampered before Australia tomorrow as she aint going to have the chance in Aus being bound to the confinements of a campervan.
Hope your all ok. Thank you all who continue to leave messgaes. Both Alanna and I really appreciate it.
Love from us both
Ali & Paul
