Wed 13th Sept: We arrived in mendoza Wed morn..this was our stop over between BA and Santiago. We waited an hour or so and took the most amazing bus journey ive ever taken. We drove straight through the 2nd highest mountain range in the world - the Might Andes. The Andes were incredable and all the pictures you see were taken from inside the bus as unfortunately we wernt able to stop....but what deadly photos!!!! The bus climbed one of the mountains before heading back down towards the border check. After the border check we past through a sign saying "welcome to Chili" and continued on through the snowcapped mountains. Dave was s***ting it as the bus barley made it around the roads (if you call them roads) back down the mountain. i have no idea why this bus journey is not mentioned in lonely planet because its one of the most amazing things ive ever seen. The most surreal bit of the trip happened when a bus next to us broke down so our bus driver stopped and got out to help and just where we stopped there was a rock with my moms name written on it.......wierd!!!! ha ha ..."Angela" written on a rock in the Andes and i happened to stop right next to it...errie!!! We eventually made it to Santiago late in the evening. The city was very busy and we really had to try hard to find the hostel we booked. we eventually found it and then went out for some chinese. all we had for the past 9 days was steak...you cannot eat in Argentina and not have steak...the best and cheapest steak in the world! so chinese was a very welcome treat! After eating we went back to the hostel, watched a movie and crashed. These bus journeys take alot out of you after a while. The next day we planned to walk around the city.
