Thur 24th Aug: Today we got up early as we had a long day of site seeing ahead of us. We jumped on a tour bus which was leaving the hostel and heading to Christ de redeemer and then to sugar loaf mountain. We got to the Christ via the largest urban forest in the world. When we got there my camera decided to go on the blink. We climbed the steps to the top but due to overcast we werent able to even see the statue even though it was right infront of us. after about 20mins of swearing and kicking and shouting i got the camera to work and as if God himself was looking down on us the clouds dissaperared and we were able to see the christ and all the sites of Rio. We took some great pictures and relaxed taking in views of copacabana, Marcana and our next destination - Sugar loaf mountain. We drove to sugar loaf in about 20mins and got on the cable car up to the first mountain. when we got to the top , we saw a helicopter platform, shops and restaurants. the day had cleared up well so the views of the beaches were great...supposely they even have concerts on top!! after awhile and a few photots we took the next cable car to the real sugart loaf mountain. again at the top the vies were unreal.....we took alot of pictures and chilled out. that evening we got back to the hostel and decided to go for a nap......we ended up sleeping the whole night through. we woke the next day for the favela's tour.
