Yesterday was a travel day that was relaxed and interesting. We saw our first views of the three glacier formed lakes, and they are all quite beautiful. In the pretty little town of Waipeka, we had a late breakfast and then I went with our two skydivers to the little airport where I was their photographer when they jumped from 1500 feet. Of course I couldn't even see them until the chutes opened, but I shared in their wonderful adventure. In the early afternoon, We stopped at the original bungy jumping place - first one in the world where four of our group did a jump. It is fun to watch, even more fun when you know the people. Not so much fun that I wanted to do it!
We travelled on to the busy little spot of Queenstown - very similar to Tremblant for those of you who have been there. I have my own little cottage this time - bathroom and kitchen just for me and indoors - whoo hoo!! It means that I am about a ten minute walk away from downtown and the rest of the group, but it works for me!! This morning, I went on the Lord of the Rings tour - not too exciting, but certainly pleasant. We went to three different spots where they did scenes from the movies, and we saw the farm where they set up operations. Again, a beautiful little town nestled beside the Remarkables - the mountain range and Lake Watapaku. Stunningly beautiful again!
Tomorrow, I have a booking to fly to Milford Sound, cruise for 2 hrs and fly back. I am very excited, but a lot of activities have been cancelled due to weather - windy and rainy. I am heading out now for a haircut - I just can't stand my hair anymore - it's a challenge without a hairdryer - Peggy can relate to that.
I have not really seen the sheep on the road the way they are in this picture, but certainly some on the road and groups like that on the hills.
I am starting to miss home, but every day is still quite exciting.
Talk to you soon,
Love, Patti
