After a quick flight to Auckland we headed into the city to our hostel that we had booked for the night! We were all hungover and very tired having had no sleep but we launched ourselves towards a car rentals place to try and sort the mess we were in out. As we only has my liscence and debit card left and no credit cards it took a lot of no's from companies before Murray the lad from Usave agreed to let us rent a car. This sorted we went in pursuit of Wagamamas. One Yaki Soba please! Had a relatively early night and then went to collect the car, Dylan.
Our next pursuit was extremely important, warm clothes. Half a year in Oz had made us all forget what cold was and NZ was beyond freezing. Some fake uggs, a scarf and some think socks later we were on the road. We have so far explored a lot of the North Island, doing as much for free as poss as we had no money until our cards arrived. Hit Rotorua where the stench of sulphur was not enough to put us off the thermal waters and cosy cottage camping where the ground was heated! On the 6th May we went to stay with Jude and Speil where the cards were waiting for us. Had an amazing eve with them looking after baby Dan and watching a film.
The next morning was blue skies and a perfect day for a skydive!! We climbed Mount Maunganui in the morn and set off to Lake Taupo. The weather looked dubious but they gave us the go ahead. We were put into our red suits and i was introduced to Karl my tandem buddy! Coincidentally he lived on Grosvenor road in Newcastle, very odd. Rose and i had convinced the other three to go to 15,00ft so as they stood there silently wetting themselves we got harnessed up for the jump!!
I was last out of the set up area and then told i would be our first, awesome! I was introduced to Petey my cameraman then sat on the floor of the plane by the door looking at the other 4!! Next thing i knew Karl was telling me to swing my legs out of the side of the plane and then he let go!!! By far and away the best thing i have ever done! Falling 10,00ft in 60 seconds! We landed and all wanted to do it again!
Got to watch our DVD which was definitely the funniest thing i have watched since peter Kay live! All pumped up on adrenaline we drove a few hours to Scoutlands campsite where the nicest lady in the world told us we could sleep in the cabins for 2 nights at the same price as camping as she couldn't have us putting up our tent in the hail. We love her the most.
